What is Occupational Wellness?
Because what we do for a living encompasses so much of our time, it’s important for our overall well-being that we enjoy our work and we are able to do this work in a safe and supportive work environment. Occupational wellness includes managing stress, building positive relationships with co-workers, maintaining a safe workspace, and exploring different career options and training opportunities. Occupational wellness focuses on doing this without sacrificing the other dimensions of wellness. Finding occupational wellness can be difficult as graduate students as we do not have clearly defined hours and experiences can vary wildly across labs and thesis advisors.
There are, however, a number of professional development and networking resources available through the University and the graduate school which are available and accessible below.
